Where PerryGolf Wins in Search — and Where It Doesn't
The full organic-search picture behind the workshop decisions — every section, query cluster, and page, from Google Search Console and GA4 across 18 May – 15 August 2026. Read it before the sessions; it is the evidence base for the retire list, the content strategy, and the design priorities.

Executive summary
- The Open drives 76% of organic clicks but ~13 enquiries; Custom Tours and PYOT convert best yet get almost no traffic — 2,793 organic visits per enquiry on The Open vs 24 on Custom Tours.
- We rank 12–20 on the commercial terms that actually sell (“scotland/ireland golf packages”) on difficulty scores of 0–8 — winnable depth gaps, not competitive fights.
- 849 supplier pages are 68% of the migration workload and produce zero enquiries — the core of the retire decision.
- The cruise hub is our strongest commercial ranking (2.1), but the 90+ departure pages bounce at 55–71% — content quality is the problem, not the section.
Why it matters for the workshop — it's context, not a decision — the evidence base for the Day 1 analytics/SDR and supplier-retire sessions and the Day 2 design priorities. (Cruise is a growth priority: the goal is to 4x the cruise business.)
Section 1
PerryGolf: where we win in search, and where we don't
Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4. 90 days, 18 May to 15 August 2026. Prepared 16 August 2026. Every figure traces to a source listed on tab 12.
The one number
it takes 2,793 organic visits to The Open pages to produce one enquiry. It takes 24 visits to a Custom Tours page. Same website, same brand, 116x difference.

Six things to take away
1. The Open reference content ranks 1st to 3rd against golf media. 'british open winning scores by year' gets 65.31% click-through, the highest on the site. The section produces 13 enquiries a quarter.
2. We are losing the competition that matters. 'scotland golf packages' 12th, 'ireland golf packages' 18th, 'golf tours ireland' 20th. Difficulty scores of 0 to 8 out of 100, so nobody is defending them.
3. The cruise hub proves it can be done, and the departures prove content quality matters. /golfcruising/ ranks 2.1 with 1m52s on page and 26% bounce. The 90+ departure pages beneath it average 55-71% bounce and 40 seconds. Same section, opposite outcome.
4. The pages that sell get no traffic. Custom Tours converts one enquiry every 24 visits. The Open needs 2,793.
5. Small Group Tours has no non-brand demand at all. It ranks 1.0 for 'perry golf tours' and 14.2 for 'golf tours'. Remove the brand and the section barely exists in search.
6. One title rewrite is the cheapest win available. 'best irish golf tour operators' ranks 6.4 with 2,261 impressions and zero clicks.
Section 2
The Open Championship — 36,306 clicks, 13 enquiries
11 pages. 75.9% of all organic clicks on the site and 0.9% of the pages in the migration inventory. This section splits into three completely different behaviours and they should never be discussed as one thing.

Read the three sub-clusters together and the strategy is obvious: cluster A is an audience we own and do nothing with, cluster B is noise we should stop counting as a win, and cluster C is a small, high-performing commercial pocket we should grow ahead of St Andrews 2027.
Section 3
Golf cruises — 3,309 clicks, 22 enquiries
The most important finding in this workbook that is not about The Open: the hub and the departure pages behave completely differently. Treating 'cruises' as one performing section hides it.

The hub holds people for 1m52s at 26% bounce. The departure pages average roughly 60% bounce and under a minute. Whatever the hub does well is not being carried down into the 90+ pages beneath it. That is a content and template problem, and it is worth more than any ranking change in this section.

Destinations & trip packages — 1,654 clicks, ~30 enquiries
Best conversion rates on the site outside Custom Tours, and the worst rankings on the terms that matter. This is the clearest gap between value and visibility anywhere in the business.

The highest converting content on the site, and the least visible. Together these pages take under 1,500 organic clicks a quarter and generate roughly 276 enquiries.

31 itinerary pages, 21,142 impressions, 239 clicks, average position around 13. The /custom/ folder root currently 301s to the client login, which is the most likely mechanical cause. Roughly 250 enquiries a quarter come through these pages from other channels.
